Horses
Horses
I have had a respect and love for horses for...... a long time. When we were still living in the suburbs
we often went trail riding at friends farm. My first experience with horses was when I was a toddler
and we went to a church gathering. They had horse rides and of course I wanted to ride, after a
couple of times of slowly walking around in a circle the horse started bucking. I started crying and
they got me off the horse and calmed it down. At our friends farm there was a horse I rode, it was a
female who was pregnant when riding around in the front yard she decided to roll, the adult were out
front and when they saw what was happening they grabbed be off so I wouldn't get hurt. I ran like it
was chasing me to the front porch and was slightly scared of horses now. My uncle bought a mule
and horse, we named the horse who was old and white Prancer because she pranced when she trot.
The mule we named Vixen, she was copper colored and had attitude. One day we were going trail
riding and I just got over my fear of riding when Prancer bolted. She bolted because it was hunting
season and someone just fired their gun next door. Me, being a fool, dropped the reins, (which is the
worst thing you could do) and held on for dear life to the horn of the saddle. My mom stopped the
horse before any damage to me or the horse could be done. They also had a small miniature Shetland
pony named Comet, this horse was very temperamental. I was riding him through a field and when
we turned around he saw his pen and he started kicking and bucking, I held on as hard as I could but
I fell. He did the same with my sister the next time, except she hung on and got him to stop. What can I say? I have a way with horses😝😝
Now moving to the present time on our farm we have three horses two we got from a ranch and one we rescued.
The two from the ranch are
both male named Dash of Fire and Ransom. Dash was injured in a jumping accident when he was
pushed to hard and jumped to high, also part Arabian which makes him really cool. Ransom (below) is a
thoroughbred and he has an overeating problem, this can lead to foundering, a problem with the
hooves.
Nellie, the horse we rescued, has some problem but she is totally fine to ride if you know how to handle her.
