So I have been curious about the LotR movies. Faith @ Faith
Gray @ Grfay Marie
Say it's awesome but they have yet to watch it/read it
Ivy @ Ivy's blog
And someone I know gave a reason why not to watch it.. the is a friendly debate so please join in the more the merrier.
So on the opposing side, a person who shall not be named said something along the lines of how dark LotR was.. It is filled with Orks, Goblins, Fire Demons and many things. Sure they are exciting but filling your head with demons isn't exactly the best thing to do.. In every book or movie it's always dark vs light, evil vs good, it's just the level of how dark the evil is..
Now what is your opinion on this?? I would like to know:)

As someone who has watched and read LOTRs it is a beautiful story about light's fight against darkness, goodness verses evil, it's a wonderful and thought provoking series.
ReplyDeleteThe world building, the character development, and the way the themes are written in so perfectly have helped me so much with my own novels.
Plus, it is really what defines the fantasy genre and one of the founding fathers so to say of epic fantasy.
Honestly, it's just epic, and yes, you should read it. XD
Hey there! Sorry havent commented on this yet. Do you think there should be that much dark though? For example watching a half ork half half goblin rise from mucus and slime isn't exactly needed is it?
DeleteIt is, it's great world building! Not to mention epicness.
DeleteSo, I'd say: The darkness is depicted as dark. There's plenty of evil in the real world too. But the light is set up as powerful, too. The darkness can seem overwhelming, but LotR confirms that the light is just as strong, if not more so, than the dark. And good will always triumph in the end, no matter how dark everything around it seems. :D That's just my two cents (and obviously I would love it if you watched it...XD)
ReplyDeleteyes that is the struggle of the world, good vs evil but does it still give a reason to show that much darkness? Is there such a thing as going too dark?
DeleteJust some thoughtful provoking questions thanks for commenting!
