Hey all, first off I want to apologize for not comment on
your blogs, I will get to that today and
Saturday and I think that I will just wait until the weekend to comment..
I am really
unpredictable with the posts..
For those of you doing the 5 part writing special, well, can’t wait to see yall’s post tomorrow

So I am going to share a different story today, it’s not fantasy
but a realistic Wild West scenario with a spoiled brat of a girl longing for
adventure. At the beginning of the book
she gets a letter from her crotchety uncle saying she can come if she wants
to--- California. Meanwhile her mother
is trying to convince her to stay by finding her eligble suitors, all of whom
are idiots, or so she thinks.. She expected bank robbers and shootouts when she
got into that stagecoach she had no clue that she would have to deal with 3 obnoxious
children and their mother, a forgetful old doctor and four rude stagecoach
drivers who are as mysterious as the trip.
So that is my tidbit.. Its going to be funny, realistic and
maybe have a slight hint of romance (depends on which way this spoiled trouble
child is going to fall) By trouble child, I mean the character who, no matter
what, seem to be the hardest. Things. To.
Write. Ever. Ever
Moving on, Nanowrimo is coming up! *squeals excitedly* It’s
also my first time in a cabin group *Waves high to cabin group*
School is getting harder and maybe that has something to do with graduating to another grade
School is getting harder and maybe that has something to do with graduating to another grade
As I am getting older I realize that I really am a ant in
this big ole world.. Buuut that is probably normal so I am just gonna roll with
it..
Shout out to those people who are graduating from high
school!
I plan to get to that point someday, although school seems to
be a foreboding tornado intent on destroy
my wish to be smart. XD Even average smart would do XD
Anyway here is part of the story.. I haven’t figured the
title so ideas would be niiiice but it’s not mandatory of you
XD
Enough..
Here it is:
Chapter 1: Adventure, Soap Bubbles and Suitors
Finally adventure was at my fingertips. I can nearly grasp it. My old crotchety uncle who is a sailing
merchant wrote that I could stay with him for awhile. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to see my uncle,
in my small town in Pennsylvania nothing ever happens. If I went I could have the chance to travel
across the country, see a robbery, be saved by handsome cowboys, and witness a
gun fight and so much more. The old
stagecoach worn from making so many trips, the horses with their manes
streaming out behind them like tattered flags snapping in the breeze. The wind pulling at my hair- Suddenly ice
cold water slashed around my feet. Shattering
my lovely day dream I look down and see Molly, our maid and sometimes my nanny,
scrubbing the floor. Observing the suds
between my toes I try not to make eye contact as she stares up at me smiling
widely.
“Daydreaming again are we Athena?” She has brown mousy hair pulled back in a
tight bun, soft brown deer eyes, when she smiles her eyes crinkle at the edges
like a crimped pie crust. She is pretty
much my aunt and best friend; she is the only one I confide in.
“Yes but this time it isn’t a daydrea-“ I was interrupted by my mother’s high,
penetrating voice.
“Penelope Athena
Barnes!”
I wince. I hate the name Penelope. Muttering a apology to Molly I start to run to go see what mother wanted but my feet came out from underneath me and I find myself in the suds.

“Drat these suds!” I
say frustratingly, sweeping my bangs out of my eyes. Molly starts laughing, as I slowly stand up
covered in suds. I fall again and she
stops laughing. I twist around to see my
mother, blond hair and blue eyes staring at me in horror. Beside her was another suitor. He was the handsomest one out of all mother
has tried to connect me with. He had sparkling
brown eyes, brown ruffled hair and he was wearing a gray suit. A very uncomfortable looking gray suit. A awkward silence follows as I stand up and
nod at mother and the suitor.
“Penelope! You are
covered in water and suds! What on earth
happened? Fredrick of Loganberry hall
has come to pay you a call and-“
“Its fine Mrs. Barnes, I prefer it anyway when a person is
caught off guard when I meet them. It
shows their true personality.”
I admit he was cute and he had charm but I could not be tied
down to live in this boring town.
“Do you mind if I change?”
I ask, staring at him hard.
“Whatever you think you would be more comfortable in, I
don’t mind.” His eyes still sparkled
with laughter.
I carefully step out of the sud-zone and run to the marble
stairs when mothers’ voice came again.
“Walk young lady.”
I inwardly groaned and squished up the stairs and into my
room. I hurriedly changed into a light
blue work shift, I would deal with the suitor and then help Rodney muck out the
horses stalls.
I ran down the stairs and into the sitting room, plopping
down in a plush chair across from the suitor.
“It is a nice day outside, do you care to go for a walk in
your garden?” He asked looking up from a
book.
“I don’t mind,” I answer, getting up and throwing open the
doors to the veranda. He offers me his
arm and we walk down the garden path.
“The violets are lovely this year,” I remark, bending down
to touch the purple petals.
“Yes it is but what is this green shrub beside it?” He asks peering at it curiously.
I try my best to
flirt even though I really don’t have that ability.
“I don’t know the name but they say that if you rub one of
its leaves on your cheek you will know if the girl nearest to you likes you.”
Smiling he picks a leaf and rubs it against his cheek.
Ah yes that’s it rub
it all over your face.
Laughing I tug him away from the plants and we continue to
talk about the weather and politics.
“Well, I must go now, it was lovely talking to you,” he said.
Finally!
“You’ll have to drop by again sometime,” I fake, smiling.
“I stop over tomorrow maybe?”
“Maybe,” I answer mysteriously.
He squeezed my hand and walks away.
Without a glance over my shoulder, I go running to Rodney who is Molly’s husband and the house and grounds manager.

“Helping me again are you, Penny?” He says, he is almost bald and has blue eyes
and his face is as wrinkled as a hundred year old sheet of paper. Penny is what he has always called me and he
always let me help him with whatever work needs to be done.
“Yes, sorry I didn’t come sooner, I had to deal with a
suitor.”
He laughed a great big loud laugh and barely got out, “What
did you do to him this time Penny?”
“You’ll know tomorrow,” I say grabbing a pitchfork and
getting to work.
Nothing more was mentioned about suitors or my soon to be
adventure for the rest of the day.
Chapter 2: Where I Get Into a Lot of Trouble and Some Embarrassing
Moments.
Morning came earlier than I would have liked but as soon as
I got dressed and made it down to the dining room there was no food. Only my mother sat at the head of the table,
looking like she cried her eyes out.
“I received news from Fredrick’s mother, he has poison
ivy! Oh!
How could you?” Her voice cracked
and I felt guilty as I did every time this happened.
“First it was Alfred and the horse accident, then it was
Barinthum and the boating accident and John and the sewage accident-“
“Ah!” I put my finger
up, interrupting her rattling off the suitors I have done damage to.
“He was very ungentlemanly-like and he was slowly trying to
maneuver me to the back courtyard wall.
How was I supposed to know that Molly was going to dump the sewage
there?” I protested, knowing I would
lose anyway.
“Because you live here Penelope!” My mother shot back
“Because you live here Penelope!” My mother shot back
Man, I am going to get
it this time. I thought, blocking my
mother’s voice out.
